"The ancient Greek myth speaks of Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind. It is a tale of subversion, dissent, opposition, and balance. And a tale of power. I try to harness that same primal power by engaging the stone without maquette, drawings, or markings. I prefer to work without any plan so as to get to the heart of sculpture, to attempt to truly strip away all points of prior reference. What emerges is archetypal in nature, a push simpy and primally to capture form from my application of force upon the stone's surface, my fingerprints laid bare to release the essence of the stone from within."
